Welcome to Grove Street Primary School

Welcome to our school. Our new website is designed to give visitors an insight into the life of our school and to provide information for children, parents, teachers and friends. On your visit you can catch up on the latest school news, events and children’s work by searching the “Main Menu” above.

Please be aware that during the move to our new site that some of the pages are out of date. We are working to get the new site up to updated as soon as possible. We aim to have all the outdated pages removed and class pages updated by Summer term.

There is now an interactive calendar at the bottom of this page which has all the key school dates.

You can find many useful links to other websites relating to education. You can also link to other useful sites and download documents, including our most recent Ofsted Report and much more.

Parent Questionnaire

Thank you to all the parents and carers who completed our questionnaire during the Family Learning Reviews. We are delighted that the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Comments included, ‘This is the best school ever!’ and ‘My child has settled in so quick and is so happy’. 98.3% of all responses were recorded as strongly agree or agree.

Seven out of fifty-nine responses felt that we should do more to address bullying. Our theme for next term’s Assemblies is Anti-bullying.

Two respondents did not know whether we celebrate your child’s achievements outside of school. We often do this during ‘Star of the Week’ assemblies. Additionally, teachers will always give your child some time in class to show and share any successes outside of school.

Thank you again for your thoughts and comments.

Master Chef

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new chef who has become a firm favourite with everyone. Since Mr Lloyd joined our school, there has been an increase in the uptake of school meals. The feedback about the new menu has been amazing. If your child would like to try our nutritious tasty meals, they are still only £2 a day.

“Quite simply, I left this school feeling so inspired and uplifted. The children were outstanding and the enthusiasm of everybody in the school has resulted in some fabulous eco work. Visiting a school like this makes my job worthwhile! Well done!”- Eco Assessor 2014.

This is an introduction from our new Deputy Headteacher who will start in September.
Dear children and families,
Let me introduce myself.  I am a teacher, who cares greatly for the well-being and achievement of every single child in my care.  I'm passionate about creating exciting learning opportunities for children which will allow them to reach their potential.
I'm currently Assistant Head at Chester Blue Coat CE Primary School and, in my eight years there, I have steered English through an amalgamation, working with a range of staff and developing a highly skilled team.  My determination as a leader has allowed us to significantly improve standards, permitted all pupils to achieve to the best of their ability leaving School with a love of writing, books and words.
I am also a key member of our Leadership Team, ensuring that our staff work consistently to achieve the best outcomes for children.  In the same way that I care for the children in our school, I also care greatly about staff.  Their well-being is just as important and by supporting them in their roles, I know we will help every child to succeed.
In my previous roles, I have always been keen to involve myself in school events and I am a reliable source of support for fundraising, and the wider community.  I will be part of the welcoming face of Grove Street School.  A school is at the centre of its community and together we can support the children in our care.
I look forward to joining you in September, and becoming part of your wonderful School.
Mrs Yalland
